Steve Jenkner, 3rd place: ´It was a bit like war on that last lap! I went to the right to pass both riders on the final straight and closed my eyes! I´m really happy with this result because we have done so much testing and finally I had a good feeling on the bike this weekend and it showed with my speed at the front of the race. A podium place at the first GP is fantastic´.

Mirko Giansanti, 2nd place: ´It was a difficult last lap and a very dangerous one with all the contact that was going on. It put me off quite a bit but I managed to recover and push through at the final chicane. I didn´t have quite enough to beat Perugini but after two years of poor results and bad luck this is a perfect start to the year´.

Stefano Perugini, winner: ´1999 was my last podium finish so I am really happy to be up here and thanks to my Aprilia team. I have a very competitive bike for this season and to be honest I can't find the words to express my joy at this moment!´.
