Repsol YPF officially announce their sponsorship of Porto

Spanish petroleum giants Repsol YPF officially announced their sponsorship link with Argentina´s top road racer Sebastian Porto in Buenos Aires, this week. The President of Repsol YPF, Alfonso Cortina, personally congratulated Porto on being the brand´s highest placed rider in the 250cc race last weekend in Suzuka.

Vice president Ramón Blanco stressed the sponsorship of Porto and his Honda effort was important for the continued participation of the only Latin American rider in the World Championship. Porto´s decent form in the latter half of 2002 was the determining factor that led to his inclusion in the new team of Alberto Puig and convinced the number one company in Argentina.

$$$ Two Argentine sports personalities attended the presentation; Carlos Reutemann, ex-Formula one driver and governor of the Santa Fé province, where Porto´s hometown, Rafaela, is located. Also in attendance was Daniel Scioli, ex-World Champion boat racer.

Porto, who is only 24 years old and has made more than 100 GP starts, commented: ´I am proud that one of the leading companies in the world and also in Argentina like Repsol YPF are supporting my racing campaign. It is an honour to be linked with the YPF mark.´
