Aussie breakfast fuels Bayliss to provisional front row

Troy Bayliss has revealed the secret behind his provisional front row success on his first ever visit to the Phakisa Freeway yesterday. The Ducati rider says his delight at seeing his favourite Australian breakfast cereal on offer at his Welkom hotel put him in the right mood for some serious action on the track, and it certainly did the trick as he lapped under pole record time to take fourth spot on the grid.

`I haven´t been to this circuit before, of course, but I like coming to South Africa – for some reason I always feel relaxed,´ smiled Bayliss. `It is a cool place and the people are really nice, I suppose it is a bit like Australia. This morning at breakfast they pulled out the Weetabix, and that really made me feel at home!´

`Seriously though, at the last test at Mugello all I did was spend time working on the front end and I found something that really makes it feel like my bike and ever since then I´ve been happy. It´s what I´ve been looking for ever since I first started riding the bike´.

Bayliss finished fifth in the first round at Suzuka, with his team-mate Loris Capirossi on the podium, and after such a promising start to this weekend he revealed the team have set their sights on a repeat result. `It is possible,´ he says. `I´d be reasonably happy to do that sort of place again. I always expect more, but we´ll see how it goes. It´s looking good so far and hopefully we can make more progress before the race. Right now I feel better on the bike than I did in Japan so maybe we can do better – who knows?´.
