Proton KR roll out V5 at Le Mans

Proton Team KR finally rolled out their glorious new V5 four-stroke prototype for its official MotoGP debut at Le Mans this morning. The 990cc machine roared into life under the bright French sunshine in front of a clamouring hoard of press, photographers and staff from other teams, keen to get a first glimpse of the future according to former three time World Champion Kenny Roberts.

The V5 has a narrow 60-degree angle for an extremely compact installation, and relies on tried-and-tested four-valve-per-cylinder twin overhead camshaft technology for an output of more than 200bhp at 15,000rpm. The chassis uses a novel rear suspension system and a mid-ships fuel tank, and carries forward important advances in materials, geometry and construction techniques pioneered on the KR3 two-stroke predecessor.
