It was one of the more spectacular images seen on TV regarding the 250cc race at Le Mans over the weekend. Manuel Poggiali, leader of the Championship who started from pole position, and Honda rider Sebastián Porto collided on the sixth lap and crashed out of the race. The incident was controversial enough with both riders blaming the other for the cause. Judge for yourself according to the two angles of the spill offered below and quotes from both protagonists.

Sebastian Porto: `There is little to say. It´s evident Poggiali has made a mistake. With a motorcycle so superior to the others to make such a risky manoeuvre only served to ruin a day in which I had so much hope. I got a good start and was in third place following the leaders in a good rhythm and hoped for the podium then he hit me from behind.´

Manuel Poggiali: `Porto made a mistake in his trajectory and he stopped in the middle of the corner trying to retake the line. I was behind him riding my usual line with the right speed but I did not think he would have bee able to enter the corner again. So I could not do anything as I was making my corner and we touched together. When we stood up he told me that I should passed him in the straight cause I was faster than him but I explained him my reasons and he understood the situation. I am very disappointed as I would do a great race doubtless.´
