The wildcard list for the 250cc Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya features too very different riders. Spaniard Alvaro Molina, who rides an Aprilia, has a long record as a wildcard, having ridden a Honda once in 1999 and then twice in 2000 – at Catalunya and Valencia. In 2001 he contested all three GPs in Spain riding a Yamaha, with a best result of 22nd. His most recent appearance was at Jerez earlier this year, where he took 19th – his best Grand Prix finish to date.

Meanwhile, French rider Christophe Rastel makes his World Championship debut riding a Honda. The 22 year old finished 10th in the 250cc Spanish Championship (CEV) last year and is this season riding in the French equivalent.
