Interesting facts and figures ahead of the 250cc Dutch TT

Aprilia riders have won ten consecutive Grand Prix races in the 250cc class. The last non-Aprilia victory was achieved by Sebastian Porto riding a Yamaha in Rio last year.

Manuel Poggiali's pole position time is the fastest ever lap of the Assen circuit by a 250cc machine. After qualifying in 23rd place on the grid at his first ever 250cc GP at Suzuka, Poggiali has either been on pole or in second place at each of the last six races.

Randy De Puniet starts from the front row of the grid for the sixth successive race. De Puniet has failed to finish three times from his four starts at Assen, having crashed out of the 125cc race in 1999 and 2000, and from the 250cc race last year.

Toni Elias scored his first GP win at Assen, in the 125cc class in 2001. His second place finish last year at Assen was his first ever podium in the 250cc class.

Only three riders have scored points at each of the 250cc GP races of the year; Fonsi Nieto, Roberto Rolfo and Naoki Matsudo.

Sylvain Guintoli, who celebrated his 21st birthday last Tuesday, starts from his best ever position in GP racing; his previous highest was 7th place on the grid at Le Mans earlier in the year.
