Steve Jenkner ready for dry challenge

Steve Jenkner claims that he is now ready to make a regular challenge for victory in dry conditions after his stunning display in the wet at Assen two weeks ago. The German claims that his dominant first career victory at the Dutch TT was not just further evidence of his growing reputation as a wet specialist, but consolidation of months of hard work by his team which he believes was set to carry him to the top of the podium in any conditions. This weekend he is desperate to prove his point, although he admits that the Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso will be a hard combination to beat.

`I had a few mechanical problems at Catalunya and Mugello, but I felt we made real progress at Assen and I was ready to fight for the win even if it didn´t rain,´ said Jenkner. `The bike is very strong now and I think I can be at the front at every race. I would love to follow up my first win in the wet with a first win in the dry this weekend but I have to say I think it will be tough because the Hondas are very suited to this track. They have better bottom end power which is crucial through the second section of the track and they have a more flexible chassis for the fast directional changes. Anyway, like I say, my bike is very fast now and I am feeling confident in myself, so we will see´.
