West looking to build on first win

West looking to build on first win

Anthony West stole the headlines with an awe-inspiring winning performance in the wet conditions at Assen last week and starts his Donington adventure today looking to consolidate his performance in dry conditions. The 21 year old became the first Australian in 25 years to take victory in the quarter-litre class at the Dutch TT, but he insists the excitement is already behind him as he focuses on a crucial second half of the season which could make or break his Grand Prix career.

`I have to say I´m feeling better now than I did arriving at Assen,´ says West, who had finished on the podium for the first time with a gutsy ride two weeks earlier at Catalunya. `It was good to have a win and get up there for once, finally. Now I´ve just got to do it again. Hopefully the rain will stay away and I can get a good result in the dry. I want to stay on the podium from now on, believe me the world looks better from up there. I like this circuit, it´s quite good. It´s pretty bumpy but I don´t mind that because it reminds me of the tracks back home in Australia which are always quite bumpy so that is not a big problem for me. My target is the podium and I will be pushing extra hard to get there.´
