Shinya Nakano enjoying his time off in Barcelona

Last February I decided to move to Barcelona and found myself a flat when we went to Montmelo for the IRTA test. I had considered moving to Madrid, because Luis D'Antin said it would be good for me to be close to the team, but in the end I opted for Barcelona so that I could be a little bit independent and also because I love the beach!

I spent two days looking at the small towns around Barcelona such as Sitges, but I found the perfect place in the city itself. It has great security, parking, swimming pool, tennis courts and a gym, and it is perfect for quick access to the airport. Since we came back from South Africa I have based myself here and during the holidays I am really enjoying all the sights.

I love to visit the famous Sagrada Familia cathedral. I have already been there many times and I have learnt a lot about its architect, Antonio Gaudí. I visited it for the first time three years ago and was impressed, but I feel something much more special when I visit it now.

When I am not sightseeing I keep up my training routine by jogging and riding my bicycle alongside the beach, and I have taken up a game called ‘paddle', which is like tennis, and I play regularly against the people in my flats.
