Interesting stats and info before the 250cc GP in Brno

Only 25 points cover the top six riders in the current World Championship standings.

Aprilia riders have won the 250cc race at Brno eight times in the last ten years. Manuel Poggiali starts from pole for the third time in the 250cc class. Brno is one of only two circuits on the current race calendar where Poggiali has not had a podium finish in any class, the other being Jerez.

Randy De Puniet has scored five podium finishes in 2003, more than any other rider in the 250cc class.

After not finishing on the podium at the first four races of this year, Fonsi Nieto has now had four top three finishes in the last five races. Toni Elias, who won the 125cc Grand Prix at Brno in 2001, has now gone five races without a podium finish after scoring back-to-back wins in Spain and France earlier in the year.

Franco Battaini is making his 100th Grand Prix start, all of which have been in the 250cc class.

Roberto Rolfo crashed out at Brno last year with less than two laps of the race remaining while fighting for first place with Melandri. Rolfo is the only rider in the 250cc class to have scored points at each of the first nine races of the year.
