Metasystem Racing sign up Di Meglio and Danese

The 125cc rider roundabout has taken another surprise turn after the Metasystem Racing Service team signed up Mike Di Meglio and Michele Danese for the remainder of the 2003 season. The Italian team were ditched by Leon Camier at Brno and, after replacing the British Champion at Estoril with Mattia Angeloni, they have now separated from Hungarian youngster Peter Lenart. With Angeloni leading the European Championship and understandably keen to contest the final three rounds, the team have been forced to find two new riders and team manager Gabriele Debbia moved swiftly to ensure the services of two promising youngsters.

Di Meglio, 15, was released from his contract by the Freesoul Racing team last week despite making a promising start to his Grand Prix career. The French teenager has scored points on three occasions – including a best finish of 13th at Catalunya – and will now use the remaining five races to gather valuable experience as he plans for 2004. Italian 21 year old Danese has been picked up from the 125cc European Championship and is set to make his Grand Prix debut next weekend at the Cinzano Rio Grand Prix.
