McCoy considering options for next season

Garry McCoy has given the clearest indication yet that he is to end his relationship with Kawasaki at the end of the season and attempt to resurrect his career with another factory. The Australian, a multiple Grand Prix winner with Yamaha in 2000, has admitted that he can contribute no more to the development of the Ninja ZX-RR and hit back at critics who have accused him of not giving maximum effort this season. He added that he is unlikely to continue with the project for next season and is considering other options.

"The bike is just not going forward at the moment," lamented McCoy, who has scored just eight points all season. "People have suggested that maybe I am responsible for not bringing the bike on but I can assure you that I give 100%, if not more, every week but it is just not competitive enough."

Responding to a question over the state of his contract with Kawasaki, McCoy commented: "It's virtually over. I'm pretty much free to do what I want next year so at the moment I'm having a look around at what's available. Hopefully something will come up soon. I feel confident I can still ride with the guys at the front – in fact I don't think there's any doubt about that. I just need the right bike and the right people behind me."
