Barbera takes second win after mechanical gremlins hit Pedrosa

Hector Barbera took advantage of a disastrous day for his fellow Spanish teenager Dani Pedrosa to seal his second victory of the season in the 125cc class.

Championship leader Pedrosa, who had dominated qualifying, got a perfect start from pole position and opened up an advantage which saw him lead by over four seconds with six laps remaining. However, a loose screw in one of his front suspension forks saw the youngster dramatically lose time and succumb to the pace of the chasing group; despite a brave fight he could only finish sixth.

Barbera stormed through with Casey Stoner for company, with the Australian taking his second consecutive podium ahead of Andrea Dovizioso.

Rio winner Jorge Lorenzo was also in a position to challenge for what would have been a second successive race win but made a mistake with three laps to go and crashed out. Stefano Perugini finished fourth, reducing the deficit to Pedrosa in the championship standings to 39 points.
