Malaguti sign Talmacsi and Manna

Malaguti have announced their line-up for the 125cc World Championship 2004, pairing together the experienced Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi with Italian rookie Manuel Manna. Talmacsi made an impressive debut with the Italian scooter manufacturer in the penultimate round of the Spanish Championship in Valencia on Sunday, improving his qualifying time from the final round of the World Championship two weeks previously, when he was riding an Aprilia. The effort was enough to secure a full-time ride for the 22 year old, who will contest his fourth full season in Grand Prix after finishing fourteenth overall this year.

´I am really very happy with this agreement, commented Talmacsi. Malaguti are focused on doing a good job and achieving the best they can, so we are on the same wavelength! I can´t wait to start the first tests and I am very highly motivated about this project. This is a very important moment for my career because it makes me the only Hungarian factory rider in the World Championship.´

Manna, meanwhile, has given up a potential career as a professional footballer to chase his dream of becoming a motorcycling World Champion. The 19 year old turned down offers from lower division Italian clubs to sign for Malaguti after impressing as a wildcard at Estoril earlier this season, where he finished 16th riding a Matteoni Aprilia.

´I really think this is a great opportunity for my career and I am looking forward to start working with the team,´ said Manna. ´To sign with Malaguti I had to turn down an offer from an Italian C2 division team, but taking part in top level competition is my true ambition.´

Malaguti are now preparing a new revised version of their 125cc machine for testing later this month. Talmacsi, who rode the old version at Valencia on Sunday, will ride the new evolution model in the final round of the Spanish Championship at Jerez on November 23rd in order to provide data for development aimed at the IRTA tests in the New Year.
