Max Biaggi set for Supermoto race

Next Monday (December 8th), at the Bologna Motorshow, various riders from MotoGP will be taking part in the "Superbikers" of Supermoto, a special one off event for riders across a band of motorcycle racing disciplines. The fans who attend will be able to witness Max Biaggi, Gary McCoy, Troy Bayliss, Loris Capirossi, Carlos Checa, Manuel Poggiali, Randy De Puniet, Andrea Dovizioso and Alex De Angelis, amongst others strutting their stuff both ‘on' and ‘off' road.

Ahead of the meeting Max Biaggi underwent some practice by contesting a low-key supermoto race at `Il Sagittario´ de Latina (Rome). The format was akin to an endurance test with the race lasting two hours and Biaggi sharing the saddle duties with a partner, undergoing six rider changes. The Honda man linked up with Simone Girolami – a former motocross and Enduro speciailist who now pitches his talent in the European Supermoto series. The duo started from pole and after some action packed laps hit the front and remained there until the chequered flag.

Just behind the MotoGP 2003 ‘number 3' and his co-rider were two other teams with members who regularly participate in the Italian national Supermoto competition. The top three pairs clinched top spots steering Honda CRS 450s.
