Barberá debuts with new team on busy day at Valencia

Three 125cc World Championship teams today began their preseason testing schedule with the first of a two-day session at Valencia. Whilst Héctor Barberá made his debut with Seedorf Racing alongside new team-mate Alvaro Bautista, fellow Spanish riders Angel Rodriguez and Jorge Lorenzo rode the two Derbi machines alongside current Gilera stable-mates Fabrizio Lai and Stefano Perugini, who looks set to sign with the Italian factory.

Despite a bout of morning showers which left the track damp, a dry afternoon spell gave Barberá the opportunity to establish some base settings with the Seedorf Racing mechanics and he was impressed with the new engine of his Aprilia, whilst across the garage Bautista lapped on Dunlop tyres for the first time having used Bridgestone last season.

Rodríguez, meanwhile, continued his preparations for his return to the world scene and was happy with his progress on the Derbi. "I'm feeling very motivated to be part of such a professional team and I am giving it everything," commented the youngster.

Unofficial lap times:

1.- Héctor Barberá 1:43.0 50 laps
2.- Álvaro Bautista 1:43.3 40 laps
4.- Ángel Rodríguez 1:46.8 30 laps
3.- Jorge Lorenzo 1:49.3 24 laps
5.- Stefano Perugini 1:55.4 12 laps
6.- Fabrizio Lai --- 10 laps.
