Poggiali and Rolfo collect awards at Bologna Motorshow

The 250cc World Championship was represented at the Bologna Motorshow by its two top riders from the 2003 season, World Champion Manuel Poggiali and runner-up Roberto Rolfo. The pair were on hand to collect ‘Golden Helmet' awards voted for by readers of the Italian national magazine ‘Motosprint'.

After accepting his prize Poggiali spoke about his plans for next season. "I will continue next season with Aprilia in 250cc," confirmed the San Marino rider. "Even though I'll be aiming for the title, my main aim is to get a lot more experience. I still don't feel ready for the next step of MotoGP. I have to mature and 250 is the right category.

"I still have a lot of year left on my contract with Aprilia, and I think about the future only in this respect. In MotoGP, the motorcycle to beat these days is the Honda but I believe that the work that Aprilia is doing now will soon show in the results."

Meanwhile Rolfo, who pushed Poggiali for the title all the way until the final round in Valencia, was rewarded for his two Grand Prix victories during the season at Sachsenring and Phillip Island.
