Nicky Hayden offers his views on life as a GP star and talks about his DNF last week

Up until his crash at Jerez MotoGP rookie Nicky Hayden had made an impressive start to his World Championship career.
The reigning AMA Superbike Champ took a 7th in his first ever race onboard the Repsol Honda in Japan and backed that up with a repeat performance in Welkom. Motograndprix.com grabbed a few words with the latest American hotshot on what he thinks about his new and challenging racing environment.

´I´m enjoying it and it´s been a big learning experience so far. A lot of things are different racing at World level and I´m just trying to adjust to it all as well as I can. I keep learning and I keep going forwards.´

´It´s crazy how big the paddock is and the atmosphere too. The bikes, the hospitality, the teams and everything is awesome and at the highest level. I´m happy being here and wouldn't want to be in any other paddock. As a racer anyone always wants more, but I can't ask for too much too early! A lot of it is new to me and I´m just trying to get comfortable but if I can keep progressing and learning every weekend I´ll be satisfied.´

´I feel OK right now because both myself and the team are working really hard. In America there are a lot of people behind me and the fans here in Europe have been really cool too. The fans are great, without them we wouldn't be here. I get a lot of stuff on my website, where they write in and things like that so it's good to have that support.´

Concerning the race last weekend that saw a small blip enter his GP point tally so far, the 21 year old said: ´My start was not so great and in all the jockeying for positions in the first corner I got knocked by someone and my whole brake lever system got twisted round. I then out-braked myself and after that managed to get sorted and into quite a good rhythm. I caught up a group and picked up a few places and then felt the engine slow a little. I fell off pretty quick – not really too sure what happened – all I do know is I´m disappointed as I knew I was going to finish higher and I'm aching a bit now – it was a fast place to fall.´
