The Christmas holidays are over and the wheels are already beginning to turn in 2004. First of all I hope the holidays have gone well for you all and that Santa Claus was kind. Personally I just enjoyed the chance to have a bit of a rest for a few days. After testing at Sepang and racing in the Bologna Motorshow I then spent a few days with my sponsors in Italy.

After heading to England for a week I had a couple of days skiing in France and then headed home to spend time with family and friends. I was looking forward to seeing them all and being with them over the holiday period. Now I am back into my regular routine, spending a couple of hours a day on my physical training programme and preparing myself for the first test of the year which starts on the 24th January at Sepang.

Valentino Rossi will also be there and we will be able to start working together as team-mates. I suppose he will be concentrating on adapting his style to the characteristics of the Yamaha M1, whilst I will be working on the evolution of parts which have come out of the factory since our last test at the end of the year in Sepang. Hopefully I will be able to help Valentino get to know his new bike better and I am sure we will do a great job together.
