Rolfo visits children's hospital in Torino

"What is happiness?" commented Roby Rolfo after his visit to the Regina Margherita Children's Hospital in Turin on Thursday. "A poster, a cap, a photograph, a signed shirt... it doesn't take much to make a child happy. Maybe happiness is seeing the smiling faces of those children who all to often don't know what joy feels like, and that gives you an enormous sense of strength."

The Italian rider spent the afternoon visiting several different wards at his hometown hospital and got the chance to meet one of his biggest fans, Emanuele who greeted him with a collection of miniature motorcycles spread out on his bed.

"The last two hours have been perhaps the most wonderful of the whole year," said Rolfo as he left, promising to return soon to celebrate a victory. "They have accepted me with enormous warmth. Some of them knew what I do and others recognised me after seeing em on the television. I hope I have helped them enjoy themselves for a while. I know how slowly the hours can drag by when you're laid up in a hospital bed."
