Olivé officially confirmed by Campetella

Campetella Racing Team have officially confirmed the signature of Spanish youngster Joan Olivé to ride an Aprilia 250RS in the 2004 World Championship. The 19 year old, who finished 12th in his debut season in the quarter-litre class last season with a highest finish of seventh at Rio, parted company with the Aspar Junior Team at the end of the year as he looks to continue his progression with one of Aprilia's favoured 250cc teams.

Team Manager Eros Braconi explained the team's decision to snap up the promising youngster, underlining their plan to develop him as a top rider for the future. "Joan is a young rider and I'm confident that he has all the necessary skills to do really well," commented Braconi." We will work very hard in 2004 to make him become one of the protagonists of the class in 2005."

Former 125cc Spanish Champion Olivé, who was brought into the World Championship alongside Dani Pedrosa and Toni Elias as part of the Movistar Junior Team project, revealed his desire to join Campetella to back in November. With the deal finally in the bag, he commented: "I'm very happy to have become a part of Campetella Racing Team - I'm sure that I can learn a lot this year and hopefully I can do a good job."

General Manager Carlo Campetella added: "We are happy to welcome Joan in our team and we wish him well in his season with us."
