Locatelli on the pace on second day at Jerez

Former 125cc World Champion Roberto Locatelli returned to the top of the time sheets with Aprilia yesterday on the second day of official factory testing at Jerez. The Italian, who won the title for Aprilia in 2000 before spending two years in the 250cc class and returning to 125 with KTM last year, was back under lap record pace on Tuesday with a time of 1'48.263 at the Spanish circuit.

Despite cool conditions and the continual threat of rain, which prevented the riders from completing as many laps as the first day, Alvaro Bautista and Youichi Ui were also under Masao Azuma's 2001 lap record of 1'48.385. Bautista improved by six tenths from the first day with a time of 1'48.273, marginally faster than Ui, whilst team-mate Hector Barbera crashed without injury on his final lap.
