Giansanti quickest at wet Jerez test

Mirko Giansanti called on his vast experience aboard the 125cc Aprilia to record the fastest time of the final day of factory test in wet conditions at Jerez on Wednesday.

Giansanti's best effort of 1.51'736, set as the track began to dry in the afternoon sunshine, was over three seconds slower than the previous best effort at the test, which had been recorded on the second day by Roberto Locatelli. The former World Champion chose not ride yesterday, when the majority of riders only took to the track for the final two hours.

(The 125cc lap record stands at 1'47.766 and was set by Stefano Perugini in 2003 – not at 1'48.385 by Masao Azuma as was reported yesterday. This means that Locatelli's best lap from Tuesday, although fast, was not actually inside lap record time).

Unofficial lap times:

Mirko Giansanti 1'51.736
Álvaro Bautista 1'53.136
Sergio Gadea 1'53.291
Andrea Ballerini 1'54.123
Mattia Pasini 1'54.232
Youichi Ui 1'55.337
Julian Miralles 1'55.593
Manuel Hernández 1'56.404
Jordi Carchano 1'56.478
Andrea Romegniloli 1'56.834
David Giuglermo 1'57.923
Ismael Ortega 2'01.101
Héctor Barberá 2'01.294
Gioele Pellino 2'07.050
