Poggiali given the stamp of approval!

Manuel Poggiali's status as a national icon in his native San Marino has been further boosted after the launch of a second series of stamps featuring the 20 year old rider. Poggiali was already featured on a special edition stamp when he won the 125cc World Championship in 2001, but after clinching the 250cc title at the first attempt last season he has again been elected for the honour. The new stamps cost 1.55 euros each, with different portrait and action shots of the 250cc World Champion.

It is the latest in a series of tributes bestowed on the youngster, who was also nominated as a "Champion for History" by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce, Sport and Transport alongside the runner-up in the 125cc World Championship, Alex De Angelis, last December.
