Locatelli on form again at latest Valencia test

Roberto Locatelli continued with his good preseason form with the fastest 125cc time in the latest batch of preseason tests at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The former World Champion closed in on the circuit lap record, set by current World Champion Dani Pedrosa in 2001, clocking a best time of 1'39.8 after some 73 laps.

The Italian was the only man to break the 1'40 barrier on the first day although Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso came close with a best effort of 1'40.0. French youngster Mike Di Meglio was also impressive, lapping seven tenths slower than Dovizioso in his first test with the Italian team run by Gino Borsoi, as was Lucio Cecchinello's latest prospect Mattia Pasini, who lapped in 1'40.9 – just over a second off his experienced team-mate Locatelli. Spanish youngster Sergio Gadea, who replaces Hector Barbera at Team Aspar, crashed in the afternoon but was unhurt.
