Kenny Roberts: "We're not different than we were last year but we're smarter"

Kenny Roberts Junior believes that the Suzuki MotoGP project is back on course in 2004 despite an unfortunate start to preseason testing. The former 500cc World Champion suffered a spectacular crash on the first day of a three day scheduled test at Sepang last week, missing the remainder of the session with a suspected collarbone injury, but is expected to be back on board the brand new GSV-R at Phillip Island next week.

Roberts spoke to motogp.com after the frightening 170km/h crash which he said left his helmet "with more paint off it than on it" and described his optimism for the new season, saying that the team are "not different than last year but smarter". The 30 year old also expressed his belief that Suzuki have learnt from their mistakes with the early prototype versions of the GSV-R and spoke of his desire to return to the top of the MotoGP podium before the end of his career.
