Team Angaia Racing satisfied after second test at Misano

Team Angaia Racing riders Julián Simón and Mattia Angeloni continued with their positive preseason with a second test at the Misano circuit in Italy last week. The pair spent two days testing their kitted Honda machines as they look for key set-up information ahead of their first season with the Japanese factory machinery.

Despite low track temperatures on both days, Spanish youngster Simón was able to complete a total of 107 laps over the two days and clocked a best time of 1'39.6, almost a second quicker than the fastest race lap set by former Malaguti team-mate Fabrizio Lai in the Italian Championship last season. Simón also competed in that race, with lap times around two seconds slower than his pace on the Honda.

Angeloni, who contested the 2002 125cc World Championship with Team Italia riding a Gilera, continued with his gradual adaptation to the Japanese machine. After spending most of the first day integrating a new data acquisition system, the Italian spent the rest of the test focussing on suspension and the cycle part of the bike. Angeloni completed a total of 92 laps, with a best time of 1'41.3.

"They were two positive days," reflected Team Manager Paolo Tajana. "We are happy with the work we have done, the form of the riders and the atmosphere in the box. We know Simon better because he was with us last year and we can see that he is in good shape. We are still getting to know Angeloni and working on his feeling for the bike and things are improving day by day. We will continue to work on the testing bench and look forward to the next test alongside our rivals at Barcelona and Jerez."
