Nicky Hayden and Alex Barros head 1,000 strong pilgrimage to Santiago

Repsol Honda riders Nicky Hayden and Alex Barros enjoyed a day of culture in the north of Spain this weekend, where they led a pilgrimage of motorcyclists along the traditional ‘Camino de Santiago' in the Galicia region. The American and the Brazilian joined the ‘Ruta Xacobea' in nearby La Coruña to complete the final few kilometres of the trail to the Santiago Cathedral alongside more than 1,000 bike fanatics.

The MotoGP pair led the parade into the Plaza del Obradoiro, where a welcome party and stage gave them the chance to take off their helmets and meet the fans in person, answering questions and tirelessly signing hundreds of autographs. Both riders also raffled off replica versions of their helmets.

After their brief stay in Galicia, which began on Saturday with a visit to a Repsol refinery, Barros and Hayden travelled to Barcelona to join up with the rest of the Repsol Honda team to being preparations for the MotoGP Official test, which begins this Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya.
