Carlo Fiorani: "It will be strange but fun to compete with Rossi"

HRC Europe's Sporting Manager Carlo Fiorani has revealed his thoughts about the upcoming season in his first public appearance since the famous press conference to announce MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi's departure from the Repsol Honda team for Yamaha. Fiorani, who has always maintained a close relationship with Rossi, was at the Repsol Honda presentation on Thursday in Barcelona, where he admitted that it would be "very strange" to compete against his close friend in the 2004 MotoGP World Championship.

"My friend Valentino is racing for another team which for me is very funny – very strange," admitted the Italian. "But it's good because I think it is good to have a friend as a competitor and I'm sure Valentino will bring to his team a lot of positive things. He is a very special rider and the World Champion so I am sure that it will be a very good competition and very good for the World Championship."

On his own team, Fiorani added: "This year our team, the Repsol Honda team, has been changed – we have a new rider in Alex Barros and Nicky Hayden, of course. The bikes have been fully revised by our HRC technicians, they have been improved in a lot of parts – the frame, engine… many, many parts are new and as usual we will fight to win the World Championship. In the last ten years we got the title many times and in 2004 we will try to achieve this goal."
