Ducati Marlboro Team ready to face Welkom

After a difficult preseason struck by constant bad weather which has restricted the development of their Desmosedici GP4 machines, the factory Ducati Marlboro Team are looking forward to a spot of sunshine in South Africa next weekend and the opportunity to finally reap some reward for their months of hard work.

"My feeling is good – really good," said Loris Capirossi. "We're starting again the season but our season never really finished because we started immediately to test the new bike - we've been working hard. The 2004 season is I think one of the best ones especially for people the people watching on the television because we have a lot of strong riders and a lot of strong bikes. Ducati is coming very hard and I think this is good for us and for everybody."

Team-mate Troy Bayliss, who finished a surprise fourth at Welkom in just his second MotoGP appearance last season added: "We're looking forward to the race, last year it was quite good to me. It was the first time I'd been there and I did okay so now that I know the place I'm looking forward to going back there this year and hopefully we can make a good start to the year."
