Dovizioso claims first ever GP win

After taking pole position at the Africa's Grand Prix recently turned 18 year old Andrea Dovizioso waited until the last corner to mark his first ever World Championship victory.

The Italian timed his move on fellow countryman and former World Champ Roberto Locatelli to perfection to win the drag race to the finish line. The Honda man had been part of a leading quartet also involving Casey Stoner and Pablo Nieto. After the latter duo were dropped by the two Italians in the final laps Stoner went on to pip Nieto for the final podium place and his first spray of champagne with the KTM machine.

It had been a quiet affair for the 125cc class especially compared to last years frantic chase but the speed of Dovizioso was impressive as was his race craft. Mike di Meglio collected his highest ever GP finish with fifth position just in front of Gino Borsoi. Mirko Giansanti, Steve Jenkner and Alvaro Bautista followed while Hector Barbera completed damage limitation by rounding out the top ten after the pacy Spaniard had to start from the pitlane.
