Ride the last lap with Rossi at Welkom

The last lap of the Africa's Grand Prix last Sunday will go down as one of the most important in the history of the MotoGP World Championship. Under pressure from his great Honda rival Max Biaggi, who was busy smashing the lap record by a massive 0.643 seconds, Valentino Rossi held firm on board the Yamaha M1 to record his first victory of the season and become the first man ever to win consecutive races with different manufacturers.

As Biaggi mounted his attack at the end of 28 record breaking laps, with both riders running some 20 seconds quicker than Sete Gibernau's previous race record at Welkom, Rossi had to call on every ounce of the experience and skill that has crowned him World Champion on five separate occasions in the 125, 250 and MotoGP classes, to hang on to the lead and cap what he would later describe as the greatest moment of his career.

What went through his mind can only be imagined by mere mortals, but can take you as close as you could possibly get to reality with our exclusive onboard footage – filmed from the miniature camera mounted on the tail of Rossi's bike.

Valentino Rossi is currently being voted the best rider of all time by's global community in our current survey – see why by riding with him on one of his greatest ever laps by clicking the link at the top of the page.
