Daijiro Cup still going strong

One year on from his death, an initiative started by the late Daijiro Kato to develop young racing talent in Japan is still going strong, with 159 pocket-bikes – many in MotoGP replica colours - registered by hopeful youngsters taking part in the 2004 edition of the Daijiro Cup.

The three different classes of the second edition of the series, which is now supported by Honda and a crop of their current riders including Makoto Tamada, Tohru Ukawa and Kato's cousin Chojun Kameya, were won by Nagashima, Ishizuka and Kezuka – names no doubt to look out for in Grand Prix in the future.
