Rossi tests Ferrari F1 car

Valentino Rossi fulfilled another dream on Wednesday when he got the chance to complete a number of laps in a Ferrari F1 car. The MotoGP World Champion, who has previously driven in the British round of the World Rally Championship, completed several laps of the Fiorano circuit, where the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro were testing with Luca Badoer and Michael Schumacher ahead of the forthcoming San Marino Grand Prix.

Rossi reportedly lapped just three seconds off the pace set by Ferrari's regular drivers, using a helmet identical to that worn by his friend and F1 World Champion Schumacher.

"It was a very exciting day for me," declared Rossi, who had barely got over his excitement at winning the opening round of the MotoGP season at Welkom on his Yamaha debut three days earlier.

"Driving an F1 car was an amazing experience and it was great for me to follow in Schumacher's footsteps for a day. I would like to thank Ferrari for having given me this opportunity."
