FIM organise photo contest

In celebration of its centenary year, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) is organising a photograph contest, open to professionals and amateurs, which is designed at catching the ‘emotion, beauty, power, passion, fascination, impact and delight' of motorcycling within the context of FIM sporting or non-sporting events.

The contest is sponsored by Canon, who are offering top of the range equipment as a prize to the best entry, including a Canon EOS – 1D Mark II for the top professional and a Canon EOS 300D for the best amateur, with lucrative second and third placed prizes also in both categories.

The contest is open until the 30th September 2004, with the first exhibition of the photos and the winners' announcement due to take place during the 2004 FIM Congress in Paris, from 18th to 23rd October 2004. In an added bonus, the winners will receive their prizes alongside the elite of motorcycling at the prestigious FIM World Champions Awards Ceremony in December, with the winning pictures to be exhibited at FIM headquarters and at various 2005 FIM World Championship events.

The photos entered in the contest must be property of the participant and all pictures must be sent to the FIM Executive Secretariat in paper copy, minimum 18 x 24 cm (7 x 9.5 inches) – black and white pictures are accepted but no separate category will be created. Participants in the contest must be able to provide original transparencies, negatives or prints if requested - in the case of a digital image, this image must be provided on a CD-Rom.
