Jerez measures up to new safety regulations

Several important changes have been made to the Jerez circuit complex this season, which has invested 1.5 million euros in order to fall in line with new guidelines stipulated by the Safety Grand Prix Commission, which includes MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi, Kenny Roberts Jr., Sete Gibernau and Nobuatsu Aoki.

Recommendations were made to the circuit organisers after last year's Grand Prix and the reaction has been instant, with 12m run-off extensions, made up of 6m grass and 6m gravel, added to the Sito Pons, Angel Nieto and Ferrari corners. A completely revised pit-lane exit has been laid out, with a wider entrance to the track and larger grass and gravel run-off area running alongside the pit-wall.

Furthermore, in the final left hairpin which leads into the start-finish straight, a section of the grandstand has been removed to make space for an extended run-off area and gravel trap.
