Rossi content with fourth after scare

Valentino Rossi has admitted it felt strange to miss out on the podium at Jerez after a record run of consecutive top three finishes which stretches back to August 2002, but revealed he was happy just to finish the race after a series of scary moments which almost saw the Italian spat from his Yamaha in the treacherously wet conditions.

´Finally I am happy and relieved because it was a miracle not to fall off, said Rossi, who finished fourth after saving a highside early in the race.

Its a great shame because I couldnt go so fast at the end. I didnt have much grip, mostly from the rear and well have to work on set-up to improve this. Its strange not to be on the podium because the last time was in Brno in 2002, when I had a tyre problem.

Each lap I was trying to be more aggressive and the front of the bike felt okay. I think we have quite a gap to make up with Honda in the wet weather, but in general we have had a good weekend, with another pole position.

One thing is for sure, this is going to be a great championship! Like I have always said, Sete and Max are going to be my main competitors.´
