Georg Fröhlich to contest all European rounds

German youngster Georg Fröhlich has been pencilled in to contest all ten European rounds of the 125cc World Championship after making his Grand Prix debut at Jerez last weekend. The 16 year old was picked as the outstanding rider from the Red Bull Rookies Cup to MotoGP in 2002 and proved his talent with four victories from eight races and second place overall as part of the ADAC Honda team in the German Championship last year.

Having also contested rounds of the Spanish and European Championships in 2003, Fröhlich took his first steps on the MotoGP ladder in impressive fashion at Jerez, qualifying 37th on the grid after just one dry qualifying practice and finishing the race in a creditable 22nd place, despite the dreadful weather conditions which caused several of his more experienced rivals to crash out.

"We are giving Fröhlich enough time to get used to the climate in the World Championship circus," explained Norbert Köpke, General Manager of Honda Europe (North). "Our goal is to promote him carefully and cautiously and to provide him with a firm footing in the World Championship. Georg is helping us achieve our goals quicker than we thought. So far he has exceeded our expectations".
