Red Bull Rookies Cup to MotoGP returns

The final selection has been made for the 2004 edition of the Red Bull Rookies Cup to MotoGP, the German series designed to nurture young talent and bring riders through to Grand Prix racing. The series returns for a third season this year, with seven of the competitors from last year returning for a second bite of the cherry, joined by another seventeen young unknowns aiming for a shot at the motorcycling big league.

All 24 were present at a spring training session at the Hockenheim circuit recently, where all the competitors got their first feel for the Honda Production RS 125 machines they will ride throughout the year.

The youngsters have an extra motivation to succeed this season after seeing former Red Bull Rookies Cup to MotoGP rider Georg Fröhlich, who contested the 2002 series, make his Grand Prix debut at Jerez last weekend.

Fröhlich, who is still only sixteen years old, finished in 22nd place and has already been pencilled in to compete in the remaining nine European rounds of the 125cc World Championship.
