Nieto reveals broken toe agony

Fonsi Nieto has revealed that he contested Sundays 250cc race at Le Mans despite suffering from the huge discomfort of a broken toe, sustained in the morning warm-up at the Grand Prix Polini de France. Nieto broke the big toe on his right foot, making rear braking at the notorious stop-and-go circuit a major chore, but he put in a brave performance to pick up seventh place before returning to his box in tears of agony.

I had a hard crash in the warm-up and broke the big toe on my right foot, so I knew it was going to be a bad race for me, but my foot went to sleep over the last few laps and I just had to hang on, explained the Spaniard.

I could hardly keep my foot on the peg and I ran off on one occasion at the end of the straight. I am pretty upset because I think I could have been on the podium if it wasnt for the crash in the warm-up but the objective was to score some decent points and we did that.
