Brivio boosted by Le Mans test

Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha Team Director Davide Brivio says his riders Valentino Rossi and Carlos Checa will head for the next round of the season high on confidence after a successful day of testing at Le Mans on Monday. Although Checa had scored his first podium in over a year at the French circuit in Sunday's Grand Prix Polini de France, it had not been a happy weekend for Rossi as he struggled to find an effective set-up for the YZR-M1 and Brivio said the World Champion made some key progress during the extra session.

"We decided to stay one extra day to try to analyse with Valentino what happened and to try to find an alternative," explained Brivio. "We made some progress. We spent the day working on race settings and had quite a good day.

"We solved some of our doubts and things worked better. We have tried some different ideas and got some good information so now we are looking towards Mugello with a little more confidence.

"After three races in very different conditions and situations and with different results, we felt it was important to take this time to analyse where we are at.

"Carlos had a very good race, but even so it was important to try some different things. We have collected some good information and now Carlos is looking forward to the next race".
