Rolfo and Poggiali mystified by crash

Roberto Rolfo and Manuel Poggiali revealed their bemusement at the crashes during the 250cc race at Le Mans on Sunday which saw both riders spin out in almost identical fashion at the same corner. Rolfo was the first rider to go down, losing the front end of his Honda in the chicane immediately after the first corner and narrowly avoiding a multi-rider pile-up as he slid over the rumble strip.

To be honest I dont know exactly why I crashed it seems as though the same thing happened to me that happened to Poggiali, maybe there was a dirty patch on the track, mused Rolfo, who finished runner-up to World Champion Poggiali last season.

It was a real shame because we had made progress throughout the weekend and I think I was ready for a good race. Things were much better this weekend, I even managed to make a good start, but it wasnt to be.

Poggialis crash came just one lap after Rolfo and the Aprilia rider was equally bemused having made an excellent start to run in third place behind early leaders Dani Pedrosa and Randy De Puniet.

I made a very good start and was feeling very confident with the bike because of the work we had done in practice and qualifying to make the set-up perfect, said Poggiali, who crashed out at the same corner one year ago.

I dont really know what happened, but it was a bad moment. I was trying 100 per cent but I went down at exactly the same place as last season it was very strange.
