Pedrosa wishes luck to latest hopefuls

The first free practice session of the MoviStar Junior Cup 2004 gets underway on Friday, with 22 riders launching their quest to be ‘the next Dani Pedrosa' at the Circuit de Catalunya. The youngsters get to straddle their Honda CBR600 RR machines for the first time this year, after completing an intense technical course in Valencia in April.

Pedrosa was at Montmeló to greet the riders and wish them well as they aim to emulate the 125cc World Champion by excelling in this national series and attracting the attention of Telefonica Movistar Honda 250cc Team Manager Alberto Puig.

"This reminds me a lot of being in the same situation back in 1999," commented Pedrosa, who was picked out of the series by Puig to contest the Spanish Championship and, one year later, the World Championship. "The best advice I can give these guys is to make the most of the opportunity, have fun on the bike, don't fall off and concentrate on doing a good job."
