Another classic duel between Rossi and Biaggi

Although they weren't quite able to match the pace of race winner Sete Gibernau or second placed Carlos Checa at Le Mans last week, Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi still found time to treat the crowd to one of their now customary head-to-head battles during the race.

Rossi got the better start of the two, crossing the line after the first lap in third position, but Biaggi stole past at half-distance and threatened to make a break from his Italian compatriot as he chased the Spanish pair at the front of the field.

However, despite extensive set-up problems with his Yamaha during qualifying practice, Rossi again rode to his limits to stay in touch with his great rival and launch a podium attack of his own with just a few laps remaining – almost touching wheels with Biaggi's Honda on several occasions as he tried to find a way through.
