The secret behind Suzuki's resurgence

Whilst their results so far this have not yet lived up to expectations, the preseason optimism at Team Suzuki remains intact as Kenny Roberts and John Hopkins have both provided positive signs that changes to the GSV-R over the winter can carry them in the right direction.

Major simplification work of the hi-tech electronics system which was integrated into the early versions of the four-stroke MotoGP prototype was at the root of the riders' renewed affection for the bike, with Roberts and Hopkins reporting that they could brake 25m later on the circuit and carry from 6-7km/h more corner speed, shaving a second off their lap times in total.

In our exclusive technical feature, Software Engineer Alfred Willeke explains how improvements to the engine management of the GSV-R and key adjustments to its engine braking have given Team Suzuki fresh optimism for the season ahead.
