Jeremy Burgess assesses development of the M1

For many paddock insiders the most controversial and significant change to the MotoGP World Championship structure in 2004, behind Valentino Rossi's switch from Honda to Yamaha, was the move of Jeremy Burgess from within the confines of HRC, where he had been for nearly 20 years, to join the Italian on his new adventure.

In this exclusive feature the revered Australian technician explains what work has been done on the Yamaha M1 to bring it up to speed and in a position to challenge for victory as it did with Rossi at Welkom and again at Le Mans with his factory colleague Carlos Checa.

Burgess cites the key changes to the bike, the secrets behind their efforts to get it ‘working well straight out of the box' and measures the factory's progress so far against his own expectations.
