Lucio Cecchinello hoping for twin success

Having retired from racing at the end of last season, Lucio Cecchinello is now focussing solely on his role as team manager of LCR. The factory Aprilia outfit have an eye on the title in both the 125cc and 250cc World Championships after positive starts to the season for Roberto Locatelli, who lies second in the minor class, and Randy De Puniet, the early leader in the quarter-litre category – as well as young rookie Mattia Pasini, who has made a promising start to his 125cc career.

Next weekend Cecchinello returns to Mugello, scene of his last Grand Prix victory one year ago and a crucial home race for his whole team. In our exclusive video feature, the Italian discusses the emotions of being on the other side of the pit wall and assesses the progress of his riders so far this season.

"It's not such a fun feeling," admits Cecchinello. "I didn't expect to have such a strange feeling, because when I watch our riders, Roberto and Mattia especially in 125, I feel as though I am on the motorcycle with them. Then I watch all the practice on the TV and every time I have the same feeling inside my body, this is nice."
