MotoGP stars aiming to score for Motos Solidarias

A host of MotoGP stars will be swapping their racing leathers for football boots this weekend as they take part in a soccer match against an all-star team in aid of Motos Solidarias, the Spanish branch of the Riders for Health charity.

Sete Gibernau, Carlos Checa and Rubén Xaus will line-up for the Motos Solidarias XI alongside former Grand Prix greats such as Alex Crivillé, Sito Pons, Jorge Martínez Aspar, Emilio Alzamora and Randy Mamola – as well as Paris-Dakar winner Nani Roma. 250cc riders Toni Elías and Joan Olivé and 125cc men Pablo Nieto and Jorge Lorenzo are also set to take part.

The riders go into the game as clear underdogs, as they measure up to a celebrity line-up which includes former F.C. Barcelona stars Hristo Stoichkov, José Mª Bakero, Eusebio and Sergi Bruguera, as well as the famous Catalan club's current president Joan Laporta.

Fans will have to pay just €5 each to watch their heroes in action at the Vilanova sporting complex near Barcelona, which includes a ticket for a half-time raffle, with tickets for the upcoming Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya amongst the prizes.
