Last year at Mugello

Lucio Cecchinello took an emotional first victory on home soil in the 125cc race at Mugello last year to move level on points with championship leader Dani Pedrosa.

Cecchinello led for the majority of an extremely open race which saw a lead group of up to ten riders swap positions throughout. Pedrosa spent much of the race at the back of the group and had appeared to have lost touch with two laps to go, but he followed pole setter Casey Stoner on a late burst and when the Australian teenager was wiped out by Steve Jenkner on the final lap, the Spaniard carried the charge through to take an incredible second.

Pablo Nieto also kept his head in a frenetic finale to seal third place, repeating his podium finish from last season. Andrea Dovizioso moved up to third in the championship after taking fourth place in his home race.
